'I'm 66 and still have a youthful, lifted face - I've been using the same skin care hack for years'

An expert shares her anti-ageing skin care tips

When it comes to skin care, cleansers, creams, and serums should not be your sole concern. According to one sexagenarian, incorporating facial massage and exercise is another excellent game plan

Physical changes such as sagging, wrinkles, and fine lines are inevitable with age, but it's possible to slow down the process with the right tricks.

GB News is speaking to women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond about how to maintain a youthful look.


One woman approaching 50 claimed that others assume she's in her 30s, all thanks to a free hack.

Decades older but still feeling fabulous, a 70-year-old who has never looked better shared the healthy habit that transformed her appearance.

Most recently, 66-year-old Linda Robison spoke to GB News about her skin care secrets, including her favourite products and the benefits of facial yoga for a sculpted visage.

"Most people guess I'm in my 50s," she said. "I think it comes down to how I take care of myself, inside and out.

"For skin care, I keep it simple: a basic moisturiser, vitamin C, retinol, and sunscreen.

"I also use at-home sugar scrubs weekly and do a gentle AHA [exfoliant] peel about once a month to keep my skin looking smooth. I'm a big advocate of exfoliating as we get older."

But a secondary skin care practice is her favourite anti-ageing strategy.

"I believe that one of the biggest things that's helped me look younger is facial exercises and massage," she said. "I've been doing both for years, and I really believe they've helped keep my face more lifted, especially through the cheek and mid-face area."

Skin care expert Yvette Wyeth previously spoke to GB News about the power of facial massage.

She said: "This is a great one to bring life back to the skin by encouraging microcirculation."

The experts at Boots confirmed that facial massage is a stellar skin care strategy, explaining: "It has the effect of increasing oxygen flow to perk up sallowness and dullness.

"As a result, you may notice that your skin looks bouncier, more refreshed and less fatigued right away, and during the following days, too - great if you have a special occasion coming up."

To correctly practise this technique, "gently massage your face with upward motions to relax muscles and get the blood flowing".

There are plenty of expert guides out there for those who want to start using facial massage, either with their hands or dedicated items such as gua sha and rollers.

Whether you're investing in a new product or going sans tools, it's important to follow expert-approved methods to avoid damaging your skin.

According to the experts at Boots, a gua sha should only be used alongside a facial oil for "sufficient slip". It can also be helpful to use a facial oil with a facial roller.

Both tools have the same aim - glowing and rejuvenated skin - although facial rollers are "less invasive" than gua shas, so they can be used more frequently.

Like facial massage, facial exercise has become popular in recent years. It can deliver excellent results, with one 73-year-old claiming that a 10-second method eliminated her turkey neck.

In 'Association of Facial Exercise With the Appearance of Aging', published in JAMA Dermatology, experts found that this practice had a positive effect in women aged 40 to 65.

Although it was noted that more research must be done on the topic, "a regimen of at-home facial exercises maintained for 20 weeks seemed to improve mid-face and lower face fullness" in participants.

For a youthful, vibrant complexion, Linda also watches what she eats so she can feed her skin from within.

"I don't eat much processed food," she said, "mostly fresh vegetables and lean meats".
