Britain's most reliable cars ranked with popular models missing out - Ford, Vauxhall, Tesla and more
The research is based on 200,000 years’ worth of extended warranty cover data

New research has found the UK’s most reliable car, with the vehicle beating out other major car brands to top the list.
The data has been collated using analysis of claims drawn from over 200,000 years’ worth of extended warranty cover, including 44 manufacturers and 300 models.
Skoda’s Citigo has been ranked as the UK’s most reliable car, beating out a number of popular brands and models to top the Reliability Index.
The hatchback is no longer sold by Skoda as new in the UK, but plenty of models are still on the second-hand market.

People looking to get their hands on the reliable model could pay as little as £6,250 for a 2016 petrol Citigo on Skoda’s used car portal, with the cheapest electric model costing £13,795.
The Citigo narrowly beat out the wildly popular Tesla Model 3 electric car and the Lexus CT hybrid vehicle.
Every car featured in the top 10 most reliable models list earned a nine-star rating, although none managed to crack the ultimate 10-star accolade.
A number of common brands including Ford, Peugeot, Tesla, Vauxhall and Volvo all saw a model make the top 10. Despite this, none of them ranked on the table of the most reliable manufacturers.
Duncan McClure Fisher, CEO of Intelligent Motoring, said: “Thoroughly exploring and understanding the costs associated with vehicle ownership before purchasing a used car will go a long way in planning for service, maintenance and repair costs down the line.
“Interestingly, only two premium manufacturer brands appear in our Reliability Index top ten tables – Infinity and Lexus – highlighting that a premium price tag for a vehicle doesn’t always guarantee ownership peace of mind.”
Dacia was found to be the most reliable car manufacturer, followed by Suzuki and Honda, despite neither Dacia nor Honda having a car in the top 10 model index.
These brands ranked much higher than others because of the comparatively lower costs associated with replacement parts being described as a “key factor”.
Duncan McClure Fisher added: “However, forewarned isn’t always forearmed.
“Spiralling energy, parts and labour prices have hit motorists hard in recent years.
“Regardless of the make, model, mileage and age of a vehicle, an extended warranty will give vital financial protection against the unexpected.”
The most reliable Dacia model is the Logan multi-purpose vehicle, which is one of the cheapest estate cars on the market in the UK.
Even some vehicles that are no longer in production or set to have production cut have cracked the top 10 lists, including the Fiat 124, Ford EcoSport, Honda Accord, Renault Zoe and Toyota Prius.
With the cost of motoring continuing to rise, many drivers may be more inclined to invest in a vehicle which will break down less often and has cheap repair costs.
