An expert warned against behaviour on a plane that could bother other passengers and staff

Whether travelling within the UK or heading abroad, many will take a flight to get to their destination.

An expert has warned of what not to do when on board a plane.

Editor at The Points Guy Nicky Kelvin detailed some unwritten rules for your travels.

He said doing some things could land you in the bad books with those around you. Holidaymakers should be mindful of what they eat, how loud they are and what they do in their seats.

Nicky said: "Don’t pack smelly food like tuna sandwiches. Think about your fellow travellers.

"However do pack snacks. Most airlines have set meal times, so you’ll want these snacks on hand just in case you get hungry in between.

"Don’t do personal hygiene in your seat e.g. flossing, clipping nails or brushing your hair.

"Also, Don’t be too loud. If others were loud around you that would likely annoy you as well.

"Be the traveller you would want others to be."

The expert explained the importance of being nice and polite to staff.

As part of this, those on a flight should be mindful of how they use the call bell.

Nicky stated: "Never press the call bell unless you really need to."

Britons are warned against doing things that might disturb other passengers on a flight.

However, there are also some things to avoid for your own safety and hygiene.

The expert explained: "Don’t walk around without shoes, especially when you are off to the bathroom.

"The plane shakes, and I can assure you it’s not water you’re stepping in on the floor."
