Despite ongoing uncertainty around travel, summer holidays may not be as expensive as holidaymakers think. In some cases, packages are actually getting cheaper.
According to data, the average price of a seven-night summer holiday has increased by just £23 per person since the start of the Middle East conflict. It’s a surprisingly small rise at a time when many travellers may have expected costs to surge.
The TravelSupermarket data showed hundreds of popular destinations have had prices fall. From Mallorca to Corfu and Turkey’s Dalaman Area, some of the most in-demand summer hotspots are currently cheaper than they were just a few months ago.
The experts explained this trend is likely being driven by cautious consumer behaviour, with many Britons holding off on booking. In response, holiday companies appear to be keeping prices competitive to encourage demand.

Traditionally, summer holiday costs rise as availability tightens closer to departure dates, meaning early bookers are often rewarded with better deals.
Some destinations have seen particularly significant price drops. Italy’s Neapolitan Riviera has recorded the biggest fall, with average prices down £232 per person.
Long-haul favourite Dominican Republic has dropped by £130, while the ever-popular Amalfi Coast is down £126. Closer to home, the Italian Lakes have fallen by £122, and Turkey’s Dalaman Area now averages just £492 per person, making it one of the best-value options for summer sun.
Mainstream favourites are also seeing price cuts. Mallorca is down £86, Corfu has dropped £83, and Turkey’s Antalya Area is £90 cheaper.

Looking for a Spanish getaway? La Palma has dropped in price
| GETTYHead of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, Chris Webber, said: "Despite the current uncertainty, summer holiday prices haven't moved dramatically - up by just £23 on average across all destinations.
"For holidaymakers sitting on the fence, that's a signal worth paying attention to. Prices won't stay like this indefinitely, and with so many destinations actually seeing prices fall — places like Mallorca, Corfu and Turkey — now could be a smart time to book ahead of any increases. Holiday companies are keen to get bookings moving, and that's likely filtering through into some very competitive pricing right now."
