Choose from three unique flavours to celebrate World Croissant Day

British holidaymakers heading to Paris with Eurostar have more reasons to get excited this week, as special croissants will be made live in the Premier Lounge.

The rail operator is marking World Croissant Day (today, January 30) with an impressive milestone – it has served more than 510,000 croissants across its trains and lounges over the past year.

Half a million flaky, buttery pastries have been enjoyed by travellers making the journey between London and the French capital.

And it's not just croissants on offer. Passengers have also been tucking into pain au chocolat and pain aux raisins throughout the year.

Today brings something extra special for Premier customers. Eurostar is teaming up with Sofitel for a one-day event called La Haute Croissanterie, giving passengers a delicious start to their day.

Chef Lerrick Coelho, who heads up the pastry team at Sofitel London St James, will be preparing croissants live in the Premier lounge from 8am on Friday, 30 January. This promises to be a theatrical experience for guests visiting the lounge.

Three exclusive flavours will be on offer: smoked salmon, a limited-edition Jaffa Cake croissant, and croissant des rois – a round pastry filled with apple confit.

Eurostar's onboard services contract & service innovations manager, Yann Bayeul, said: "Food is an important part of how customers experience Eurostar, from the moment they arrive in the lounge to when they take their seat onboard.

"Serving more than half a million croissants over the past year reflects both the scale of our operation and the care we put into the details that matter to travellers."

The onboard menus are put together with chef partners, featuring seasonal dishes inspired by European cuisine that passengers can enjoy from the moment they board.
