The price of the Google Pixel 9 was just cut in half.
Originally released with a starting price of £799, you can now get the handset for only £399 across retailers like Currys, Very, and Argos.
This sale comes just as the Pixel 10a was announced in a surprise announcement. The Pixel 9 is considered the entry-level flagship model in Google’s lineup, while the Pixel 10a belongs to the brand’s more budget-friendly, mid-range A-series. What makes this deal particularly notable is that the Pixel 9 is available for £399 — £100 less than the starting price of the Pixel 10a — meaning you can secure a premium, flagship device for less than Google’s newer mid-range option.
Each of these mobiles is built with slightly similar features, too. For instance, both models boast the same Tensor G4 processor for decent performance, similar battery charging capabilities, and the same 6.3-inch display.

The Google Pixel 9 features a vibrant 6.3-inch OLED display, the latest Tensor chip for smooth multitasking, and a dual-camera system that's designed to excel in low light. While both models have similar builds and display screens, the Pixel 9’s glass protection and premium feel may edge out the 10a’s mid-range build. The Pixel 10a is built with Gorilla Glass 7i and pOLED screen, whereas the Pixel 9 features an OLED screen and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 — generally considered to be more durable.
They each also come with a Tensor G4 chipset for smooth performance. However, the Pixel 9 is said to handle multitasking better, such as swapping between multiple apps at once, because it features more RAM.
Pixel owners will be able to get the perfect group shot with an AI trick called Add Me, which includes the designated photographer to group photos by taking a second photo with them in it.

For photography lovers, the cameras on each of these handsets are a big differentiator. The Pixel 10a comes with a dual rear 48MP main camera, 13MP ultrawide, and 13MP front.
On the other hand, the Pixel 9 has a bit of a better quality camera setup due to its higher spec sensors. It also features a dual system with a 50 MP main and 48 MP ultrawide camera lens.
Each handset also comes with a slew of AI features. For instance, Pixel owners will be able to get the perfect group shot with an AI trick called Add Me, which includes the designated photographer to group photos by taking a second photo with them in it. AI then stitches the two images together, so there's no need to use a tripod or rely on a timer to get everyone in a photo.
Both also feature Auto Best Take. This automatically analyses multiple frames when you snap a group photo to ensure everyone looks their best with just one press of the shutter.

Google has also expanded its Quick Share support with the AirDrop feature for the Pixel 9 — initially only available on the Pixel 10 series. Similar to the iPhone, you can seamlessly share photos, videos, and files directly between Android devices.
If you prefer to wait for the Pixel 10a to release, you can pre-order it now through the Google Store and major carriers like Vodafone, Three, EE, O2, and more, with the handset hitting shelves on March 5, 2026. This model will start at £499 for 128GB of storage.
