You'll need an iPhone running iOS 18 to access all of the new tricks

  • Apple Sports brings together the latest scores, team lineups, and statistics
  • For the first time, live tennis scores can be accessed in the app
  • Update has rolled-out in time for Wimbledon 2025
  • The free iOS app can also display live betting odds

Excited about Wimbledon and desperate to keep abreast of all the celebrations and upset in SW19? Apple Sports — the free one-stop-shop for sports scores and announcements — has expanded its coverage to include tennis for the first time.

The free download unlocks live scores for Grand Slam and 1,000-level tournaments. Not only that, but iPhone owners can track every point across all men’s and women’s singles matches, beginning with Wimbledon.

You'll be able to keep tabs on an individual player’s progress throughout the tournament, with live scores delivered incredibly fast in notifications on your handset. The app covers matches from the first round through to the finals, ensuring you won't miss any of the action.

Apple Sports supports Live Activities, so it can deliver real-time updates to the notification on your iPhone's Lock Screen and Apple Watch — so you won't even need to unlock your device and hunt for the app to check the latest Match Point.

Alongside a swathe of new tennis tournaments, the latest update to Apple Sports also introduces a brand-new home experience designed to make it easier for you to personalise and follow your favourite teams and leagues.

Events and matchups are now grouped by league, with new toggles to set a preferred order, ensuring your top leagues appear first when you launch the app. Favourite teams always appear at the top, giving fans instant access to the scores and updates they care about the most.

Whether you're following multiple sports or focusing on specific tournaments, you can tailor the experience to match your interests perfectly. Apple can display live betting odds alongside the scores, although this can be disabled in the settings.

The app also includes Game Card Sharing, which lets you share your excitement about any matchup across all supported leagues with friends and fellow fans. Whether you're following a thrilling five-setter at Wimbledon or tracking your favourite player's progress, you can easily share these moments with a quick tap or two.

Aside from tennis, Apple Sports can pull-in team news, scores, and leaguetables from the Bundesliga, Champions League, Conference League, EFL Championship, Europa League, FA Cup, FBS and FCS NCAA College Football, LaLiga, League Cup, LIGA MX, Ligue 1, Men’s College Basketball, MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL, NHL, NWSL, Premier League, Serie A, WNBA, and Women’s College Basketball.

For supported sports, the iPhone app will also include a link to watch a game live if it is available on Apple TV or another connected streaming service the user is signed in to on their device. A list of upcoming games, as well as play-by-play information, including team statistics and lineup details are included in the app.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

Speaking ahead of the launch of Apple Sports last year, Apple Senior Vice President of Services, Eddy Cue said: "We created Apple Sports to give sports fans what they want — an app that delivers incredibly fast access to scores and stats. Apple Sports is available for free in the App Store, and makes it easy for users to stay up to date with their favourite teams and leagues."
