2024 world champion Jorge Martin gave fans an update on his occasion

Jorge Martin was transported to hospital on Monday morning after suffering his sixth crash of the Barcelona weekend during the post-race test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

The 2024 MotoGP world champion came off his Aprilia at the high-speed Turn 7 approximately ninety minutes into the session, prompting a red flag.

Photographers at the scene observed the Spaniard was conscious and checking his limb movement, though medical staff fitted him with a neck brace before placing him in an ambulance.

Initial examinations at the circuit's medical centre detected no visible fractures to his left elbow and right leg, but Martin was subsequently sent to Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona for additional assessment.

Martin's troubles began on Friday during FP1 when a brutal incident at Turn 12 left him with a mild concussion after he slid into his own machine, which had already struck the air fence.

Despite being visibly shaken and unsteady on his feet, he was cleared to continue and even completed a practice start.

The difficulties persisted into Saturday, with the Madrid rider crashing during both qualifying and the sprint race while running in sixth position.

Sunday brought further misfortune when Trackhouse rider Raul Fernandez collided with Martin on the opening lap of the restarted grand prix, eliminating him from what had been a promising second place.

Aprilia released a statement confirming the sequence of events following the Turn 7 incident.

"Following the crash at Turn 7, Jorge Martin was taken to the circuit's medical centre for checks, primarily to his left elbow and right leg," the team said.

"Examinations performed at the circuit's medical centre revealed no visible fractures, but it was decided to take Martin to the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona for further tests."

Hospital scans subsequently confirmed the absence of any fractures.

The Italian manufacturer announced it would not continue with the remainder of Monday's testing programme following the incident.

The disastrous weekend has significantly damaged Martin's title defence, leaving him 15 points adrift of teammate Marco Bezzecchi in the championship standings after arriving in Catalonia just a single point behind.

Martin was not the only rider to endure a difficult Barcelona weekend, with both Alex Marquez and Johann Zarco hospitalised following separate incidents on Sunday.

Gresini confirmed that Marquez underwent successful surgery and was expected to leave hospital later on Monday after his collision with Pedro Acosta, which resulted from a mechanical failure on the KTM rider's machine.

LCR has yet to provide further details regarding Zarco's condition following his Turn 1 crash.
