Adam Peaty's great aunt and uncle were reportedly removed from the guest list for his wedding to Holly Ramsay through an automated message sent merely four days before the ceremony took place.
The couple had already invested hundreds of pounds in accommodation, clothing and presents ahead of the Olympic swimmer's nuptials at Bath Abbey on Saturday.
A source told The Sun: "They got an automated message basically saying they were off the guest list and to respect Adam and Holly's decision."
They added: "It was so impersonal, and just four days before the big day."

The cold manner of their uninvitation added to mounting tensions surrounding the 31-year-old's marriage to the celebrity chef's daughter.
The family rift had been brewing for weeks before the ceremony. Peaty had withdrawn his mother Caroline's invitation after a dispute arose over her exclusion from Holly's hen party.
His father Mark was informed he could attend but would be required to sit at the rear of the church, a condition he declined to accept.

This meant his sister Beth stood as the sole representative of the Peaty family at Bath Abbey, serving as a maid of honour alongside the bridal party.
The 25-year-old bride's family, by contrast, turned out in full force for the occasion.

Gordon Ramsay and Holly Ramsay hold hands prior to her wedding day on Saturday
| GETTYIn the hours leading up to the ceremony, Adam's aunt Louise dispatched a blistering message to the groom condemning his treatment of his mother.
Her text allegedly stated: "I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through and despite it all she loves you still. Shame on you both. Shame."
The message continued: "Remember on this, your happiest day, and on each anniversary of your happiest day, that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams."
However, the swimmer never saw his aunt's words. He had blocked communications from family members, meaning Louise's condemnation went unread as he prepared to walk down the aisle.
Guests gathered at Kin House in Kington Langley, Wiltshire, for the reception following the ceremony.
During his speech, Gordon Ramsay, 59, praised his daughter's appearance and told the groom he was "a lucky man", suggesting he look at Tana to see what lay ahead.

An insider said Caroline was left "outraged and hurt" by the remarks, adding: "By him saying Tana will be a good mum to them both makes Caroline sound like a bad mum.
"It was a cruel dig at her."
The newlyweds appeared unfazed by the ongoing drama, departing from Gordon's London residence on Monday to begin their honeymoon.
