The McIlroys visited their new UK residence after his historic victory to see the "finishing touches" on the property they've been building for the past few years.
"Straight after Augusta, we travelled over to see the house as it was going through the finishing touches," McIlroy told the Telegraph. "It was fun to see and we could have stayed in it, but we wanted to get over to Holywood."
The move represents a significant lifestyle change for the family, with the pair set to become UK residents following the US Open in Pennsylvania.
The Surrey location is popular among professional golfers.

Despite the move, reports indicate the family will maintain their Florida residence for when McIlroy competes on the PGA Tour.
Their current Florida home is a magnificent property located inside the prestigious private members Bear's Club, founded by Jack Nicklaus and his wife Barbara in 1999.
McIlroy purchased the Jupiter residence from golf legend Ernie Els in 2017.
The South Florida home sits on 2.4 acres of highly desired land with nine bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
The 13,000-square-foot property boasts luxury amenities including an infinity pool, games room, tennis court, home theatre, recording studio and state-of-the-art gym.

In the Netflix docuseries Full Swing, German golfer Martin Kaymer recounted a conversation with Stoll, saying: "I saw her at a Starbucks once, and she said, 'I really don't like the sun.' I said, 'Your state's called the Sunshine State, right?'"
