The former Manchester United man could be set for an astonishing reunion

Mason Greenwood could be set for an astonishing reunion with former Manchester United team-mate Marcus Rashford.

Barcelona scouts were left thoroughly impressed after witnessing Greenwood's spectacular four-goal haul during Marseille's commanding 6-2 triumph over Le Havre earlier this month.

The 24-year-old striker's dazzling display has reportedly caught the attention of the Catalan giants, who could make their move next summer.

What makes this potential transfer particularly intriguing is that it would see Greenwood reunited with his former United team-mate Rashford at the Nou Camp, who is currently there on loan.

A source revealed to The Sun: "Barca could end up with two of Europe's hottest strikers for a bargain price."

The Marseille forward has been in sensational form this season, netting six goals in just eight league appearances, with an additional goal in the Champions League.

United stand to receive a substantial financial boost from any potential Barcelona move for Greenwood.

The Red Devils negotiated a shrewd sell-on clause when they allowed striker to leave to join Marseille, securing 50 per cent of any future transfer fee.

For Rashford - he is loving life in Barcelona so far. Speaking ahead of his first El Clasico against Real Madrid on Sunday, Rashford said: "It's not a long career, and the first thing you're going to miss when you retire is this type of match."

When questioned about his future plans, he added: "I hope to be here for a long time."

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has been equally enthusiastic about his loanee, praising Rashford's pace and combination play with teammates.

Greenwood's journey to Marseille followed a turbulent period at Manchester United.

The striker was suspended in January 2022 after being charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour, though these charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February 2023.

Following an internal investigation, United decided he wouldn't play for the club again, leading to a loan move to Getafe where he netted 10 goals in 36 appearances.

His permanent switch to Marseille came last summer, where he's continued his scoring form with 22 goals in his debut season, finishing as Ligue 1's joint-top scorer alongside PSG's Ousmane Dembele.
