Liverpool fans have paid tribute following the tragic death of Diogo Jota at the age of 28.
The Portuguese star was involved in a fatal accident on the A52 motorway near Palacio de Sanabria in the province of Zamora, Spain, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Jota’s brother, Andre, was also present in the car and sadly lost his life.
Andre, 26, played professionally for Portuguese second-tier club Penafiel.

After hearing confirmation of the accident, fans took to social media to pay their respects.
One fan wrote: “RIP CHAMPION”.
Another said: “We love you forever, @DiogoJota18”.

A third added: “YNWA. God be with his family and his three kids, RIP Diogo Jota and his brother Andre."

The brothers's car was derailed from the motorway after suffering a tyre blowout, the Guardia Civil said.
The car, believed to be a Lamborghini, then caught fire at around 00:30 local time.
Liverpool released an official statement on the news, saying: “Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.

“The club have been informed the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, Andre.
“Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and request the privacy of Diogo and Andre’s family, friends, teammates and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss.
“We will continue to provide them with our full support.”
Jota’s former club, Portuguese side FC Porto, also released a statement saying the city was “in mourning” after news of the tragic accident.
Portugal National Team, who Jota made 50 appearances for, said they “will do everything to honour their legacy daily.”
The accident occurred during what should have been a celebratory period for the footballer, who had tied the knot with long-term partner Rute Cardoso just days ago.
The pair share three children together, making the tragedy even more tragic for the family.
