Chelsea forward David Fofana has been fined more than £12,000 and handed eight penalty points after being caught driving without a valid licence or insurance.
The 22-year-old, who is currently on loan in Turkey, was stopped by police in Chessington, Surrey, earlier this year while behind the wheel of his £100,000 Cadillac Escalade.
The incident took place late at night on February 20, and the Ivorian striker has since admitted both offences.
Lavender Hill magistrates, sitting in south-west London, were told Fofana did not attend the hearing in person but had accepted responsibility for his actions through legal representation, according to The Sun. He disclosed a monthly income of £10,000 and was fined £10,000, with an additional £2,000 and £130 in court costs. He was also given eight penalty points on his licence.

Prosecutor Laura-Ann Harding told the court: “At 10.57pm on 20 February 2024, the defendant used a vehicle, namely a Cadillac Escalade, with no insurance covering the use of that vehicle.
"At the same date, time and place the defendant drove otherwise in accordance with a licence, in that no L plates were displayed and he was not being supervised by an otherwise qualified driver."

The offences were recorded as having taken place just over a year after Fofana made his Premier League debut for Chelsea. The Ivory Coast international joined the Blues from Norwegian side Molde in January 2023, having earned a reputation as one of Europe’s most promising young forwards.
However, opportunities at Stamford Bridge have been limited. Fofana spent the first half of last season on loan at Union Berlin in the Bundesliga before joining Burnley in January, where he scored four goals in 15 appearances.

His performances earned him another temporary move this summer — this time to Turkish Super Lig club Fatih Karagümrük in Istanbul.
The striker has featured regularly for the Turkish side and is seen as a player still developing his game away from the Premier League spotlight.
