The former Red Bull chief could be in line for a sensational return to Formula One

Geri Halliwell 'would not be against' husband Christian Horner moving to Ferrari, as rumours over a blockbuster move continue to swirl.

Horner was axed by Red Bull back in July after 20 years in the role of team principal, with his departure sending shockwaves around the Formula One community.

The Briton did, however, recently secure a mammoth payout from the F1 side. And with the final details of his departure sorted, it means the 51-year-old is free to return to the sport as early as next season.

On Monday night, it emerged that Horner was in talks with Ferrari over an extraordinary move that would see him replace Fred Vasseur.

The Italian-based side have struggled this season, with driving duo Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc unable to compete with the likes of Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen at the top of the standings.

Halliwell and Horner married a decade ago and, while the former Red Bull chief was accused of inappropriate behaviour towards a colleague last year, the Spice Girls icon stood by her husband.

Horner always denied any wrongdoing during the saga, with the Briton twice cleared.

And the Daily Mail claim that Halliwell would be open to starting a new life with Horner out in Italy, should a move to Ferrari end up materialising.

The newspaper says that Ferrari's interest in Horner is nothing new.

It's said that twice, in recent years, they have come calling for the 51-year-old - only to end up being rejected on both occasions.

Ferrari reportedly wanted Horner to spearhead their side instead of Vasseur in 2023. The ex-Red Bull supremo was one of three names on their shortlist.

What's more, Horner was their No 1 choice. However, despite being offered a bigger salary than his wage at Red Bull, he opted to turn them down in a huge show of loyalty.

Last year, Ferrari again came calling.

But with Red Bull flying, and Verstappen establishing himself as the best driver on the grid over a period of time, Horner turned them down for a second time.

Furthermore, there have long been conflicting reports on whether Lewis Hamilton would be content with Horner's appointment.

Yet the Briton has no such concerns and has apparently wanted him to be his team principal for a number of years, despite the intensity of the rivalry between Red bull and Mercedes while Hamilton was racing the Silver Arrows.

Meanwhile, Martin Brundle recently opened up on Horner and his conditions for a potential return to F1.

“I think the current teams in F1 will be pushing hard, as will other stakeholders, to say they don’t want a 12th team at the moment while they’re all jockeying around trying to sort out the 2026 regulations," he said.

“It might be an extra hurdle for Christian. But F1 is his life. It’s where his skills and experiences lie.”

Brundle added: “He made it absolutely clear to me when I spoke to him that he will only come back if he’s got a skin in the game, if he’s got a share of the team and is building something, rather than being a manager as he was with Red Bull.

“He couldn’t get any shareholding in that. Toto Wolff is a good example of how to do that as a one-third shareholder in Mercedes.

“I’m not surprised Christian is knocking on doors, seeing what is available out there.

"There are not many available doors to knock on, in that respect.

“I’m sure he’ll be thinking about MotoGP as well. That’s just been taken over by the same people who own F1, and it will grow.

"But I imagine his focus will remain on F1 to see where he can get back in."
