The Champions League fixture schedule has been confirmed following Thursday’s glittering draw in Monaco, with England’s six representatives handed a mix of glamour ties and testing away trips.
Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal all discovered the exact dates and kick-off times for their league-phase matches, which begin on September 16 and conclude with a dramatic finale on January 28 when all 36 clubs are in action simultaneously.
Each side will play eight matches against different opponents.
The top eight will progress directly to the last 16, while those finishing between ninth and 24th will enter a play-off round. Teams ranked 25th or lower will be eliminated.
Chelsea will open their Champions League clash with a tough showdown against Bayern Munich
| PAAmong the standout fixtures, Chelsea start their campaign with a daunting trip to Germany to face Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich on September 17.
The London club later welcome Barcelona to Stamford Bridge on November 25 in one of the headline ties of the phase.
Arsenal’s calendar also features a mouth-watering clash away at last season’s finalists Inter Milan on January 20.
Newcastle, returning to Europe’s top table for the second year in three, will relish a blockbuster home opener against Barcelona on September 18, while Manchester City’s defence of their crown includes a December showdown with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Liverpool, meanwhile, kick off at Anfield against Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid before hosting Madrid themselves in early November.
Tottenham’s path includes a late-November trip to Paris Saint-Germain, ensuring all six English clubs face heavyweights of the continental stage before the end of the year.
