A moment meant to be heartwarming quickly turned viral for all the wrong reasons at the 2025 US Open when a grown man was filmed appearing to snatch a cap intended for a young fan from Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak.
The incident unfolded on Court 11 following Majchrzak’s emotional five-set victory over No 9 seed Karen Khachanov.
As he signed memorabilia for fans, he removed his own hat to hand it to a young boy in the front row.
Before the child could receive it, an adult nearby swooped in and shoved the cap into his partner’s bag, seemingly oblivious to the stunned youngster’s pleading.

He then offered the child only a marker instead of the cap.
The clip immediately stirred outrage on social media. One viewer condemned, “Stealing from a child is completely disgusting,” while others demanded that the US Open take action against the fan.
The behavior was widely labelled “disgusting,” “embarrassing,” and “despicable.”
Users on Reddit and X called for the man to be banned from future events after depriving a child of a special moment.
Majchrzak, who was unaware of the incident at the time, later shared screenshots from the video on Instagram.
He wrote: “After the match I didn’t record that my cap didn’t get to the boy.

As for Cam Norrie, the veteran was beaten in four sets by Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic remains on the prowl for a 25th Grand Slam title that would move him ahead of Margaret Court in the history books, despite the 38-year-old battling with a back injury.
