Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen will miss the Miami Grand Prix media day as he awaits the birth of his first child with partner Kelly Piquet.
Red Bull confirmed the news just hours before his scheduled appearance at the Miami International Autodrome.
The Dutch driver's absence from Thursday's media duties has sparked excitement amongst fans as he prepares to become a father for the first time.
Despite missing the media commitments, Verstappen will still participate in the race weekend.
Red Bull has assured that "all is well" and the four-time F1 drivers' champion will arrive at the track tomorrow.
In a brief statement released to the media, Red Bull said: "Max will not be attending media day in Miami as he is expecting a baby. All is well and he will attend track tomorrow for the race weekend."
The team added: "We will not be offering any further comment at this time in respect towards the privacy of Max and his family."
Verstappen's private aircraft was reportedly still in Nice this morning, the closest airport to Monaco, which initially sparked speculation about his delayed departure to the Sunshine State.
The 64-time Grand Prix winner is currently engaged in what promises to be a thrilling title fight this season.
Kelly Piquet, Verstappen's partner, is expecting her second child, as she already has a daughter named Penelope from a previous relationship.
This will be the first child for the Formula 1 champion, who has been in a relationship with Piquet for several years.
According to reports, the baby was originally due sometime next week, but it appears the blessed event may be happening slightly earlier than anticipated.
The timing coincides with the Miami Grand Prix, the sixth round of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
Red Bull's request for privacy has been respected by the Formula 1 community as the couple prepare to welcome their new arrival.
