Francis Ngannou has received messages of support from fellow sports stars after he announced the death of his 15-month-old son Kobe.

The boxer and MMA fighter posted the devastating news on his social media accounts on Monday evening.

"Now, he's laying without life. I shouted his name over and over but he's not responding.

"I was my best self next to him and now I have no clue of who I am. Life is so unfair to hit us where it hurts the most.

"How do you deal with such a thing? How can you live with it?

"Please help me if you have an idea because I really don't know what to do and how to deal with this."

Stars from the boxing and MMA world have sent their best wishes to Ngannou after the news.

Former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, who beat Ngannou in a fight in March, shared his condolences.

He wrote: "May the memories you shared bring you comfort."

Ngannou only turned to boxing last year, almost pulling off a huge shock on debut against the undefeated Tyson Fury.

He previously spent several years in UFC and trained with one of MMA's greatest fighters, Conor McGregor.

Reacting to the news, McGregor posted: "Absolutely gutted reading this Francis! I can only imagine the pain you are in right now I am so sorry hearing this news.

"I pray God has the best and safest place in heaven for him, until you meet again."

Cain Velasquez, who lost his last UFC fight against Ngannou in 2019, offered his support.

He wrote: "Bro I have no words but I am here. Praying for you and your family. Sending you a hug."
