Harry is back in the UK after his father's cancer diagnosis

A Briton has backed Prince Harry for a sensational return to the royal frontline in a GB News interview.

GB News’s Yorkshire and Humber reporter Anna Riley took to the streets of Hull to learn more about the public sentiment towards the royals after King Charles’s shock cancer diagnosis.

Despite some arguing that Harry should be prohibited from carrying out any royal duties, one backed him and the Prince of Wales to rekindle their relations and “step up” in the absence of the King.

William is returning to official engagements this week, with Kensington Palace making its own announcement just a few hours before Buckingham Palace shared the King’s diagnosis with the nation.

“Charles is handing it pretty well”, one Briton said.

“He’s got two sons that can step up. A lot of people don’t like the Royal Family because there’s a lot of hangers on.

“So this is the time when these people should be stepping up. Taking some of the roles, some of the appointments.”

Another couple were less receptive to the idea of the Duke’s return, saying Harry has “blown it”.

“I used to love him”, she told Anna Riley..

“He can come back and obviously he wants to see his dad, but I wouldn’t give him anything else.”

One Briton left the door open the possibility of a Harry return, saying “grudges can’t be held forever”.

She told GB News: “They’re going through a tough time. I’d be surprised if he hadn’t come [to visit Charles].

“At the end of the day, it’s all family, isn’t it?”

Somebody else was left furious by the prospect, branding Harry a “traitorous little toe rag”.

“I don’t think I would see him for all the flipping tea in China”, he said angrily.

“I think I’d tell him to f*** off. I think he’s a traitorous little toe rag.”

The Prime Minister said he is thankful the King’s cancer has been “caught early” as he wished him a full recovery.

The 75-year-old is facing regular treatment for cancer after his shock diagnosis was uncovered during his recent hospital stay for a procedure on an enlarged prostate.

The King, who has postponed all his public duties, returned to London from Sandringham on Monday and has already begun his medical care as an outpatient under the supervision of his specialist team of doctors.

Rishi Sunak said he was left “shocked and sad” when he was told about the King’s cancer diagnosis.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “All our thoughts are with him and his family.

“Thankfully, this has been caught early.”
