The Princess of Wales was beiing treated at The London Clinic for "planned abdominal surgery"

Princess Kate may not stay at the "freezing" Adelaide Cottage as Michael and Carole Middleton are eager to help, a royal commentator has claimed.

The Princess of Wales was discharged from hospital on Monday and returned home to Prince William and her three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five.

However, Kate may not stay long at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, according to the royal commentator Michael Cole.

He told GB News: “It was interesting there was no departure photo call and she's gone off straight to Adelaide Cottage in the middle of Windsor Great Park to recuperate.

“That, of course, is where her children are, they go to school locally and she'll want to be there, but it's not an ideal place for recuperation.

“It's not terribly big. In fact, there's no room inside the house for the nanny, she has to live in an outbuilding.

“One of the former tenants Mrs Rosemary Townsend, the wife of actor Peter Townsend, who had an affair with Princess Margaret, she said that Adelaide Cottage was the coldest place she'd ever known on Earth.”

Kate's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, live in a large property in Berkshire near Adelaide Cottage, and will be eager to help their daughter, a source has claimed.

They told People Magazine: “Her parents are an enduring factor in the upbringing of their grandchildren.

"And they will be a reassuring presence when she goes back to Windsor to recuperate.”

Cole continued telling GB News: “Catherine's parents have a larger house not far away in Berkshire, but she’s on the way to recovery."

The Prince and Princess of Wales moved to Adelaide Cottage in the summer of 2023, and their children attend Lambrook School nearby.

It is a four-bedroom house, meaning the Waleses' nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, does not live inside the cottage.

In a discussion with Emily Carver and Tom Harwood, Cole added: “There will be no public appearances at least before Easter and the Prince of Wales is cutting back his programme so that he can be there looking after his wife, which is absolutely right and proper and caring for the children in the very modern way.

“They said it would be two weeks and it has been two weeks, 13 nights, that she has been in hospital.

“Make no mistake. This is a serious matter. They don't keep you in hospital that long for a minor complaint, quite rightly.”
