"Shame on anyone that sees this for anything less than a caring, thoughtful gesture.

"Sending lots of Healing, Love and Support to our lovely Catherine.

"Who cares about the photo, get well soon we all miss you. X."

Another added: "Sending love and best wishes to our Kate and asking the media who are the creators of this conspiracy to leave this lovely lady alone."

Similarly, a royal fan said: "Poor Kate leave her alone, how many of those who criticise Kate would like to be constantly criticised themselves after having had major surgery?

"It’s no one’s business but her own as to what she has had done, give her time to recover so she can be our beautiful princess again who we are rightly so proud of."

Princess Kate was left feeling "very sad" following the storm created by her Mother's Day photo blunder, a source told The Sun.

The Princess of Wales was hospitalised for 13 days in January following abdominal surgery.

She is not expected to return to royal duties until at least after Easter.

Kate was subsequently seen leaving Windsor Great Park in a car beside Prince William, after explaining her actions on social media.
