Kate last month announced her cancer diagnosis

Former Sun Royal Editor Charles Rae has blasted the ‘outrageous’ conspiracy theories that surrounded Princess Kate in the months following her planned abdominal surgery.

He told GBN America that people are continuing to put bizarre claims into the ether despite the Princess of Wales confirming last month that she has been diagnosed with cancer.

“There have been a lot of apologies”, Rae told Nana Akua.

“There should have been a lot more apologies. I mean, I was absolutely disgusted with everything that was on X.

“People were even ludicrously suggesting she had been murdered and this was a stand-in.

“It got to the point that people were looking at the leaves in the background of one picture and saying that it couldn’t be right because the leaves aren’t seasonal.

“I mean, haven’t you ever heard of evergreen trees? In the excellent video that she herself did announcing that she got cancer, you’ve still got people analysing the background and saying ‘the daffodils aren’t moving’.

“They’re saying that the ‘slats on the bench on the right are not the same as the slats on the left side’. Honestly.

“Clearly a lot of people have got an awful lot of time on their hands and they really need to get out a lot more. I think it’s a great shame.”

Some celebrities such as Stephen Colbert and Andy Cohen who spoke out on Kate’s absence from public life have now retracted their comments.

Rae said on GBN America he is ‘glad’ they have done so but they should be ‘ashamed’ of themselves for doing so in the first place.

Kate is said to be ‘enormously touched’ by the outpouring of support afforded to her by the public after her health bombshell.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said last month: “The prince and princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’ message.

“They are extremely moved by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time.”

Words of support also came from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who said: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”

The form of cancer has not been disclosed, but the future queen began a course of “preventative chemotherapy” late in February, and is said to have a positive mindset for her recovery and is in good spirits, describing herself as “well and getting stronger every day”.
