Lady Colin Campbell has slammed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, after it has been revealed that the couple sent the Department of Education an 'appearance release' with a 'gagging clause' to prevent any negative comments, following their visit to a New York school in 2021.
Speaking on Dan Wootton Tonight, the royal author and commentator criticised the move by the couple, which took place during the filming of their Netflix documentary series.
Campbell said: "I think it's outrageous, but I think it's typical. You know, Meghan and Harry are dictators. They're trying to dictate to everybody what you have to say about them, whether you believe it or not, or then you have to be silenced. I mean, it's actually outrageous. If you stop to think of it, this sort of behaviour is unprecedented."
Royal author Phil Dampier also shared his thoughts on the gagging clause, saying: "It's absolutely incredible isn't it? I mean I'm sure their people will try and make out it's standard practice, but what if a teenager, some 13 year old lad, some poor lad from Harlem had posted something on social media from this event, are they are they going to get their high-powered lawyers onto them and sue him? I don't think so.
Dampier continued: "I mean it's absolutely ridiculous, it shows they're paranoid. It shows they're absolutely control freaks. I talked last week about how they're trying to control the press as well now and get back into the press and you know you don't get the royals saying to anyone before they come out, you know we're not allowed to report anything we say. They don't like us reporting things they say, but they don't try and get it in writing."
