A report in 2020 found that Bashir had faked bank statements and showed them to Earl Spencer, Princess Diana's brother, in order to gain access to the royal.
Journalist Andy Webb has said that the BBC "could have committed a criminal offence" by not disclosing information relating to the explosive Martin Bashir's interview with Princess Diana.
Speaking to GB News he said: "It is a fact that to unlawfully conceal information that that ought to be given to anybody who requests it under Freedom of Information is a crime and it has an unlimited fine.
"The ICO, that's the body that administers the Freedom of Information Act, they are looking to see whether the BBC has, as I allege, committed an actual criminal offence."
