'I just don't think that that is a sustainable position for us to be in, because it isn't fair to taxpayers,' the ex-Tory minister said
A former Tory Immigration Minister has said that Britain’s social contract has been “obliterated” by the “unfairness” of the migrant crisis.
Speaking to GB News, Tom Pursglove also warned there was a “complete disconnect” between the Labour Government and the public on the issue.
Mr Pursglove referenced the report led by Alan Milburn, which said the social contract had broken down over youth unemployment, on Thursday.
He said: “The social contract is being completely obliterated by the unfairness that people understandably feel when they see people pouring into our country with no consequences.
“They see they have very limited prospects of being returned to their country of origin or removed anywhere for that matter.
“I just don't think that that is a sustainable position for us to be in, because it isn't fair to taxpayers.
“Their taxes are going up, and they're seeing their public services get worse to fund people who are breaking the law and acting in a totally unacceptable way,” the former immigration minister said.
