On the fourth day of Christmas, we reflect on Holy Innocents Day, when we remember the tragic consequences of Herod's search for the baby Jesus among the population of Nazareth.
"Holy Innocents is a moment of dissonance, like a note played wrong. Grief and violence enter the Christmas story of hope and joy.
"We often portray Christmas in a chocolate box kind of way, but Christmas happens because our world is not okay.
"The Christmas message is that God came into the world as it is. Jesus came to forgive us, to help us, and to help us change and be the change our world needs."
