Nigel Farage has declared that Reform UK will "make history and win the next General Election" after his party took control of Durham County Council for the first time.

The historic victory saw Reform secure the 49 seats needed for a majority, ending the coalition rule of the last four years.

Farage proclaimed that "today marks the end of two-party politics" in the UK.

He also claimed the results mark "the beginning of the end of the Conservative Party".
