The Prime Minister insisted preserving peace would require 'a lot of action'

Keir Starmer has issued a warning over the “fragile” ceasefire with Iran as he stressed that there was “work to be done” to prevent a resumption in hostilities.

The Prime Minister is touring the Gulf to “discuss diplomatic efforts to support and uphold the ceasefire” just hours after Donald Trump declared the temporary pause in hostilities.

While in Bahrain, Sir Keir addressed a “general sense” among regional allies that the current ceasefire was “fragile” and that “there’s work to do in relation to it”.

He explained that his current goal was to ensure that the “ceasefire is permanent and that the Strait of Hormuz is open.

“That takes more than just words. It takes a lot of action,” the Prime Minister added.
