Conservative MP Craig Mackinlay has left Commons MP in fits of laughter, as he made a triumphant return to Parliament following a quadruple amputation after contracting sepsis.
Speaking to the Commons, Mackinlay thanked the NHS staff who saved his life, before joking about Speaker Lindsay Hoyle.
Mackinlay told the Chamber: "And first of all, a thanks to you, Mr Speaker, for being there for me, for coming to visit.
"And I will tell everybody a little story. The rest of the hospital thought I must be dreadfully ill, because they said, that guy's got the funeral director in already."
