The former Immigration Minister spoke to GB News
Robert Jenrick has outlined a key amendment for the Rwanda Bill that would prevent "harm to our country".
The former Immigration Minister spoke to GB News about the need for a deterrent in the face of mass migration
He told Patrick Christys that the question that “hangs over” the bill is whether it “works”.
“That’s all that really matters to me”, he said.
“Creating a workable deterrent means that we have to stop the boats and that we fix this problem that’s causing so much harm to our country.
“I don’t believe the bill does that. There are two ways at least that we have to fix it.
“One is stopping this merry-go-round of individual claims where an illegal migrant an break into our country and then claim that Rwanda might be generally safe.
“It’s not safe for me because of this or that reason, usually spurious, planted in their mind by a lawyer or legal representative.”
