A trio of Labour MPs have broken ranks as they call for the "complicit" Lord Mandelson to be sacked over his links to Jeffrey Epstein.

Bell Riberio-Addy, Kim Johnson and an MP who commented anonymously all said Peter Mandelson should be fired as the UK's ambassador to the US.

Ms Ribbery-Addy said: "There should definitely be an investigation into it because there will be a huge amount of concern, and if the outcome is that he should resign, he should."

The MP for Liverpool Riverside, Ms Johnson, told The Telegraph: "I totally agree [with Bell]. But the fact is, this was known before he was given this position in America as the ambassador.

"As much as he says on the radio that he regrets it, the fact is that he called him his 'best pal' in his birthday card, he made money from him.

"That suggests to me a very strong relationship because who sends cards with those comments on? He should never have got it in the first place."

The third MP stated: "Of course, he should go. And he has had good practice in resigning. He probably has a standard letter on his website."

"This highlighted Russia's increased recklessness in recent weeks, including their attacks on the Cabinet of Ministers building, British Council and EU Delegation buildings in Kyiv.

"Russia's ongoing aggression was unacceptable and continued to show why President Putin had no interest in peace.

"The UK stood ready to support Nato and Poland to continue to defend the alliance in the coming days and weeks, while also working with allies to step up support for Ukraine to ensure it had the capability and air defence it required."

"Things were said that were tough and strong, and clearly, we can argue, because when allies meet, they can argue. We are both democracies, and we both understand the threat from the jihadists.

"The Prime Minister reiterated, and of course I couldn't agree more, that Hamas is a terror organisation that must be removed."

Government 'must not scare the nation' but should 'be honest with the nation as to the risks and threats' of Russia - defence minister

Armed forces minister Al Carns told the Commons: "We've got to make sure, if we're going to explain to the population why we're spending more on defence, it's related to those threats, so we're going to clearly explain it.

"The SDR (strategic defence review) has stated that we're going to double down on investment in the defence industry to ensure we can provide the assurance that we can contribute to Nato in an absolutely above-and-beyond meaningful way.

"We must not alarm the nation. We must not scare the nation.

"We must be honest with the nation as to the risks, the threats, that are posed towards us, our defence and indeed the citizens of this country, and we need to be clear with that."

'The strongest performance I have seen by Kemi Badenoch' - Christopher Hope delivers his analysis on PMQs

GB News' Christopher Hope said it was "the strongest performance I have seen by Kemi Badenoch" as the Tory leader went after Sir Keir Starmer on Peter Mandelson and his messages with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Mr Hope said: "[Badenoch] has had a few misfires, notably last week when she didn't really hammer the Government on Angela Rayner's future and her tax affairs.

"You heard six questions, all on the same issue, pummeling the Prime Minister on Jeffrey Epstein - what does the Government know about these deeper links we are seeing disclosed by these papers in America?

"She said it is a disgrace that the PM won't go further or release more information about the vetting process.... she accused the PM of waffle and whataboutery."

Sir Keir responded: "Well Mr Speaker, let me tell you what we are doing. With the former president of the National Farmer's Union Baroness Minette Batters to review farm profitability.

"Mr Speaker this is the key issue and delivering the 25 year farming roadmap and we have struck a deal with the EU which is of great deal to farmers, which they (Conservatives) say they will reverse.

"That is on top of the £5billion that we put into farming in our last budget."

He said: "The man (Mr Herzog) who called for the collective punishment of the Palestinian people, and to send the artillery shells that destroyed their homes, their families and their friends. A man who will ignore every word the Prime Minister says.

"Would he invite Vladimir Putin into Number 10? Would he invite Benjamin Netanyahu into Number 10?"

Sir Keir responded: "We have suspended arms that could be used in Gaza", and that Labour has "sanctioned extremists".

He continued: "I will not give up on diplomacy. That is the politics of students."

Kemi Badenoch has accused Sir Keir Starmer of talking "a load of waffle" and is too focused on his "pointless deputy leadership election" rather than dealing with the unions striking on the London Underground.

Mrs Badenoch said: "We have strikes crippling our capital city and damaging our economy.

"He could use minimum service legislation, which we introduced to make the lives of the people out there better. But he won't because he does not have the backbone to face down the unions.

"With this Government, it is more strikes, more scandals, more chaos, and the link, Mr Speaker, isn't the link between all of this his bad decisions, his bad judgments and his total weakness?"

He said: "The Deputy Prime Minister referred herself to the advisor, it was a clear finding and she did the right thing.

"What did the Prime Minister do then, he ignored that. It was a resignation, but that was the resignation of the advisor."

'The Prime Minister cannot answer any questions': Kemi Badenoch hits out at Sir Keir Starmer over Peter Mandelson links to Jeffery Epstein

Tory leader Kemi Badenoch has hit out at Peter Mandelson's links to Jeffery Epstein, saying Sir Keir Starmer "cannot answer any questions".

Mrs Badenoch said: "He says the ambassador has expressed full regret but the victims of the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein have called for Lord Mandelson to be sacked. And just so the House is aware in 2019 Jeffrey Epstein was convicted of child prostitution and sex trafficking that took place between 2002 and 2005.

"Was the Prime Minister aware of this intimate relationship when he appointed Lord Mandelson to be our ambassador in Washington?"

Sir Keir responded: "As she and the House would expect, full due process was followed during this appointment as it is with all ambassadors. The ambassador has repeatedly expressed his deep regret. He is right to do so. He is now playing an important part in the UK-US relationship."

Keir Starmer under pressure to urgently suspend deputy Labour leadership contest amid demands for full review

Sir Keir Starmer has been put under pressure to urgently suspend Labour's deputy leadership race after Lord Blunkett demanded an "urgent review".

Speaking to the BBC, Lord Blunkett said: Well my reaction on Sunday night, and I did ring up people and say: ‘Couldn’t we get out of this? Can’t we actually postpone?’

“I suggested suspending the deputy leadership campaign for a full review of what the post is all about when we’re in government. What is the job description? How does it differ from party chair? What are the two different roles here that we’re seeking to achieve?

“So, I’m slightly bewildered as to why there wasn’t a pause, negotiations with both the parliamentary party and the trade unions over a review, and then coming back in the future with a thought-through policy of what is this job for?”

The ex-Home Secretary also warned that Labour is too divided for such a contest at the current time.

He added: “I’ve been a member of the Labour Party for over 60 years, it always loves internalising, it always loves the internal campaign against each other. And we’ve really got to get off it.”

Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson, former Commons leader Lucy Powell, ex-trade envoy Bell Ribeiro-Addy, Foreign Affairs Chairwoman Dame Emily Thornberry, Liverpool Wavertree MP Paula Barker and Local Government Minister Alison McGovern have all entered the race.

Labour MPs have mentioned Nigel Farage and Reform UK at least 30 times at Prime Minister’s Questions this year, a GB News analysis of Hansard’s records has revealed.

The attacks, often posed as thinly veiled as open goals for Sir Keir to hammer home, have primarily centred around workers’ rights, the NHS and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The People’s Channel revealed earlier this year that the three themes have become a cornerstone of No10’s efforts to thwart the rise of Reform UK.

However, Labour MPs have also focused on Liz Truss, Reform-run local authorities and Mr Farage’s absence from Prime Minister’s Questions.
