Richard Tice tells energy bosses to end their reliance on net zero
Reform UK's deputy leader Richard Tice has told energy bosses to end reliance on net zero, adding the party would focus on nuclear and gas-fired power if it were to win the next election.
The party would not reveal which energy bosses attended the meeting, saying it was held on a “Chatham House basis”.
A spokesman said: "Richard Tice made clear there is no democratic mandate to increase electricity costs, destroy British industrial jobs nor blight our countryside with ugly solar farms, questionable battery storage systems and many thousands of huge pylons.
"The renewable industry are increasing electricity costs not reducing them."

Green Party leadership candidate demands Parliament to be recalled over Gaza
One of the Green MPs running to lead the party has urged MPs to urgently gather in Westminster to debate Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to take control of Gaza City.
Ellie Chowns warned the Israeli security cabinet’s plan risked creating "untold human suffering" as she demanded Parliament to be recalled.
THe MP for Herefordshire North said: "Netanyahu’s brutal plan to take control of Gaza is yet another declaration of intent to commit war crimes and will lead to untold catastrophic civilian suffering.
"The UK must do far more than simply express disapproval.
"We need to recall Parliament immediately to hold the UK Government to account, to urgently assess whether we are meeting our obligations under the Genocide Convention and to enact immediate measures.
"The consequences of delay will be measured in countless innocent lives lost."
Awkward moment JD Vance issues direct free speech warning to David Lammy as Britain faces 'dark path'
Watch the moment JD Vance warns David Lammy that Britain faces a “dark path” with regard to free speech should it continue its current course.
The Vice President opened up his UK trip by going on a fishing trip with the Foreign Secretary before sitting down with the press.
President Trump’s second-in-command has long been a critic of Britain and its approach to free speech and he made that clear during his first overseas trip as Vice President.
Rupert Lowe agrees to pay charity £1,000 after accusing charity rowers of being suspected 'illegal migrants'

The crew, Matthew Parker, Mike Bates, Aaron Kneebone and Liz Wardley, known collectively as Row4MND, had been contacted by the coastguard after the Great Yarmouth MP posted a picture of them on social media.
Lowe posted on social media: "Good news. False alarm! The unknown vessel was charity rowers, thank goodness. As a well done to the crew, I'll donate £1,000 to their charity, raising money for MND.
"Keep going, and watch out for any real illegal migrants! We received a huge number of urgent complaints from constituents, I make no apologies over being vigilant for my constituents.
"It is a national crisis. No mass deportations for the charity rowers, but we definitely need it for the illegal migrants!"

JD Vance said the US and UK “have a lot in common” and should work together to “bring greater peace” to the world as he praised Foreign Secretary David Lammy,
The Vice President said: "Obviously we come from sort of different political spectrums, but he was kind enough to make time on a visit to DC, we got to know each other a little bit then, and just kept on seeing each other.
“And our families enjoy each other’s company very much, which always helps, but we just care about this relationship and we care about the fact that we’re separated by an ocean.
"As I guess Churchill said by a common language, that we have a lot in common, and there’s a lot to do and a lot to work on together.
"David once said to me, this is probably a couple of years ago, that there’s this feeling that the world is in a state of incredible tension, and I certainly felt that a couple of years ago.
“I think the president of the United States over the last six, seven months has done a lot to lower that tension but there’s a lot that the United Kingdom and the United States can do, I think, to bring greater peace and stability to the world."

The pair are expected to chat about the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Sitting alongside US Vice-President, Lammy said "of course we will be discussing the developing situation in Gaza, which is a great concern, and of course the ongoing war in Ukraine, and the desire to see that come to an end".

Convicted domestic abusers will face 'restriction zones'
The Government plans to implement "restriction zones" to limit where convicted domestic abusers can go.
Perpetrators are already subject to "exclusion zones" which restricts where they can go within a certain distance of where the victims live.
However, abuser under the new plans would face greater limits on their freedom.
It is aimed at allowing survivors to not fear seeing their former abuser during their daily travels.
Sexual and violent offenders would be subject to the proposals which are expected to be announced by Justice Minister Alex Davies-Jones at an event in London this afternoon.
Abusers are expected to be GPS monitored so real-time data could detail where they are going and enforce the "virtual boundaries".
Government needs to 'expand recruitment' but also retain doctors
The Liberal Democrats said there "is a number of different problems" with GP numbers.
The party's Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper spoke to GB News and described the GP problem at the NHS as a "leaky bucket".
"For every one person who is trained and recruited as a GP, another one leaves," she said.
"So it's kind of one-in, one-out at the moment."
She called on the Government to "rapidly expand" its recruitment of doctors, but also noted there was a "retention problem" with GPs of retirement age leaving.
Cooper also highlighted that there were "a lot of younger GPs leaving the service".
Liberal Democrat Leader says Benjamin Netanyahu's 'goal is ethnic cleansing'
Sir Ed Davey has declared it was "increasingly clear" that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's "goal is ethnic cleansing" in Gaza.
The Liberal Democrat Leader said "Netanyahu's plans to occupy the whole of Gaza are utterly abhorrent".
"It's increasingly clear that his goal is ethnic cleansing," Davey said.
"This plan will only serve to wreak more devastation on the lives of millions of Gazans - whose homes and communities have already been destroyed - while endangering the lives of those hostages still held by Hamas."
Davey added that "rather than sitting on its hands and issuing strongly worded statements" it was time for the UK to take decision action.
"Keir Starmer needs to stop the export of all UK arms to Israel - today - and sanction Nethanyahu and his cabinet," he said.
Liberal Democrats say people are 'really frustrated' with Labour and Conservatives
Liberal Democrats Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper on GB News
|GB NEWS
Liberal Democrats Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper has told GB News that "people are just really frustrated" across the political spectrum.
"People haven't forgiven the Conservatives for the mess they left the country in," Cooper said.
"And they're really fed up with many of the decisions this Labour Government have made."
Cooper added that it wasn't surprising that people were looking at alternatives.
"Many parts of the country they are turning to us as we have seen in the recent local elections," she said.
Keir Starmer says Israeli's decision take over Gaza City 'is wrong'
The Prime Minister has slammed the Israeli Government's decision to "further escalate its offensive" and take over Gaza City.
Keir Starmer said in a statement that the decision was "wrong, and we urge it to reconsider immediately".
"This action will do nothing to bring an end to this conflict or to help secure the release of the hostages. It will only bring more bloodshed," Starmer added.
"Every day the humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsens and hostages taken by Hamas are being held in appalling and inhuman conditions."
The Prime Minister further said that "what we need is a ceasefire, a surge in humanitarian aid, the release of all hotages by Hamas and a negotiated solution".
“Hamas can play no part in the future of Gaza and must leave as well as disarm," Starmer said.
“Together with our allies, we are working on a long-term plan to secure peace in the region as part of a two-state solution, and ultimately achieve a brighter future for Palestinians and Israelis."
However, Starmer said that "without both sides engaging in good faith negotiations" the prospect of peace "is vanishing before our eyes".
“Our message is clear: a diplomatic solution is possible, but both parties must step away from the path of destruction," he said.

The Energy Minister said it risked "escalating an already intolerable situation" when speaking to Sky News.
Fahnbulleh said: "There's no one that can see what is happening and unfolding in Gaza that isn't horrified by it. And, you know, our priority is in order to try and get a ceasefire."
