President Donald Trump has encouraged Sir Keir Starmer to "deploy the military" to tackle the small boat invasion.

The President said: "You have people coming in and I told the Prime Minister I would stop it. And it doesn’t matter if you call out the military, it doesn’t matter what means you use.

"But it destroys countries from within and we’re now actually removing the people that came into the country.

"It’s a very hard chore, we were given a very, very bad hand... We have to remove them and we are removing them, we have no choice and I feel very strongly about it."

Earlier this morning, Mr Trump shook hands and said goodbye to King Charles after spending the night at Windsor Castle. The US President then flew to Chequers and met with the Prime Minister as the pair signed a deal worth £250billion.

The Business and Trade Department says the agreements with US companies will create over 7,600 jobs "in all areas of the UK" and that the package "reflects the scale of ambition shared by both nations".

"We have the only trillion dollar tech sector in the West, outside of the US, again, I caveat. We have the best investment, the best universities, the most Nobel Prizes... here outside the US.

"That's what we bring to the table, and we are proud of it. That's why we both benefit from this incredible relationship.

"Look at the economic prosperity deal that we struck back in May. It was the first trade deal that the President made, and yes, it was the best deal as well.

"We have the lowest tariffs in the world in vital sectors, and that is some achievement. It was a tough negotiation, but we did it for a reason, because it's a win for both sides, and because we knew that by working together, we could deliver more for working people."

Speaking to GB News, Mr Farron is worried about how a trade deal with the US could affect farmers and farming standards.

He said: "What I'm worried about, what I am not hearing is anything about the situation of the deal that could affect our farmers.

"We know there are people from the United States administration in the country at this moment as part of this delegation seeking to negotiate a deal that would affect farming - our concern there is that, as was the case with the last Government with New Zealand and Australia, our Government in order to get some headlines successive, might throw British farmers under the bus."

Sadiq Khan under fire as TfL suppressed report showing that LTNs do NOT reduce car use

Sir Sadiq Khan's officials have concealed taxpayer-funded research that indicates low-traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs) do not result in a reduction in car usage, according to a new study.

Transport for London (TfL), which Mr Khan chairs, reportedly decided not to publish the study after academics found that LTNs do not discourage people from driving.

Keith Prince AM, the transport spokesman for the London City Hall Conservatives, accused the Labour Mayor of overseeing a "cover-up" and urged Sir Sadiq to "correct the record".

LTNs are road-blocking schemes originally introduced by the Conservatives during the Covid lockdowns.

Sir Keir Starmer to formally recognise Palestinian state after Donald Trump leaves UK

Sir Keir Starmer will formally recognise the state of Palestine over the weekend once Donald Trump has concluded his state visit.

The Prime Minister is reported to have delayed the announcement until after the state visit, following concerns it could dominate the joint press conference at Chequers today.

The announcement comes before the UN General Assembly's meeting in New York next week, where the UK, France, Australia, and Canada are among the nations expected to extend recognition.

The Prime Minister previously said: "I've always said we will recognise a Palestinian state as a contribution to a proper peace process, at the moment of maximum impact for the two-state solution. With that solution now under threat, this is the moment to act."

EU orders UK to open its borders as Brussels's shares its 'number one priority'

The EU has warned Britain that it will not sign a deal to reduce red tape on food imports unless the UK Government agrees to allow freedom of movement for young Europeans.

The Prime Minister is facing significant pressure to finalise this deal as he seeks to win back voters by promising cheaper prices for supermarket and household goods by 2027, as outlined in Labour's election manifesto.

The urgency for a sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) agreement with the EU has increased following a rise in food inflation, which recently reached an 18-month high.

Labour's EU negotiator, Nick Thomas-Symonds, met with his counterpart in Brussels, Maros Sefcovic, on Wednesday morning.

Following the meeting, Mr Thomas-Symonds said: "Our target for the SPS agreements, which will benefit our agri-food industries, is to have them implemented by 2027."
