Labour's Shadow Work and Pensions Minister Alison McGovern has said she hopes Donald Trump stays out of the upcoming General Election.
Reports today claimed Trump could meddle in the upcoming race to Number 10.
Speaking to GB News, McGovern said: “Obviously, we are all very concerned about people who want to interfere in elections. We know that there is more and more of this sort of thing. I think the Electoral Commission should be supported and making sure that our democracy is safe and that our elections are safe. So as a general point, I would say, yes, I'm concerned about that. There's lots of forces out there that would want to interfere in elections and we rightly treasure in this country our ability to hold free and fair elections and that cannot be put at risk.
Meanwhile M McGovern has also outlined how Labour plans to turn around the NHS. She said: “It needs to modernise and to be able to use new technology to help people engage with doctors and to manage their own health. I think those two things go hand in hand. You know.
“Doctors and nurses and all kinds of health professionals up and down the country right now. They are feeling under pressure. They're feeling completely stressed about what's going on in the health service. I was speaking to a doctor only last night in my constituency who was saying just that that they feel extremely under pressure and things are very difficult, but I think with the right investment and with the right change, we could see as we did under the last Labour government, satisfaction levels with the health service going up once more.
“I think Labour can bring forward our plan, we can improve it and we can see patients getting a good service and nurses and doctors not under the kind of stresses and strains.”
