The Hungarian Prime Minister spoke to GB News in his first UK interview in over a decade

Viktor Orban has said he fears the Iran war could worsen the migrant crisis and outlined what he thinks Europe needs.

The Hungarian Prime Minister sat down with GB News - in his first ever interview with a UK broadcaster - and spoke about the conflict in the Middle East, among other topics.

When asked by Miriam Cates about the consequences about the war between the Ayatollah regime and the US and Israel, Mr Orban highlighted two key issues: migration and energy.

The GB News host referred the migrant crisis of 2015 - where over one million people fled conflicts in Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq - and asked whether the same could be repeated now.

The Hungarian PM replied: "I think now we have two difficulties approaching us from that conflict.

"One is migration, exactly as you have elaborated, and the other is energy.

"And the impact of this war on the energy supply and the price of the energy.

"So these two crises could come or could be created as a result of the turmoil."

When asked about Donald Trump's decision to attack Iran, the Hungarian leader commented on what he thinks is the US President's motives.

He said: "The question is whether he started a war or a peace. It hasn't been decided yet.

"Because if I understood his intentions clearly, which are based on my conversation with him several weeks ago in Washinton, his understanding is that Iran is a source of war.

"I think we need some time to understand whether we are moving to peace by the strikes, or the opposite. It is too early to say."

When questioned on Europe's leadership, Mr Orban had stark words for those in charge.

He said: "My understanding of the leadership capacity of the West is rather bad.

"So that kind of attitude, what we have and all the elite, academic based, intellectually based, ideologically biased routine, places more trust in institutions than the capacity of a leader.

"That's paralysed the whole Western world.

"So my point was that we need something new, somebody who is different, something who is coming from a different place.

"I was not aware who this is. But I realised this person, Donald Trump, could be a maverick, probably.

"He is a person who will shake up the whole concept of Western leadership because we need personal leadership, personal responsibility and a brave man.

"And in Europe the general conviction is that a strong leader is a bad thing because strong leaders represent danger.

"The good thing is institutions, because institutions can run the countries and the job of a leader and politicians, nothing else, just to manage the institutions, which is totally mistaken.

"So that's the concept of leadership, which must be changed. And he did so."
