Drivers could cut their motor insurance costs to less than £100 with cars that may surprise, with many classic models and sports cars.
New data has shown that the classic sports car, the MGB, is the cheapest car in the UK to insure, despite being out of production for more than 30 years.
Motorists who can get their hands on an MGB could pay an average of just £83 for their car insurance policy.
This is significantly cheaper than the average cost of car insurance, with the everyday driver paying £403 for cover.
The MGB was followed by the iconic Rover Mini at £116 and the sleek two-seater BMW Z3 for £152 a year, according to Go.Compare.
A range of vehicles were included in the top 10 list, including another MG, the MG TF, for £155 and the Toyota MR2 for £172.
Tom Banks, car insurance spokesperson at Go.Compare, said: "Some models cost more to insure due to factors like repair costs and risk of theft, so it might seem surprising that the MGB is the cheapest car to insure, but when you scratch beneath the surface, it makes sense.
"It was MG's top-selling model, meaning parts are widely available, and owners of these cars tend to be mature motorists who only take them short distances, all of which brings down the average premium."

The car insurance company has also compiled the cheapest vehicles to insure for those under 25, who typically face costs of more than £1,000 when they first start behind the wheel.
Volkswagen tops the list, with the VW Fox costing just £529 to insure, offering younger motorists major savings.
All vehicles in the top 10 list cost less than £600 to insure on average, offering motorists the chance to slash their costs by more than half.
"Comparing policies ahead of time will give you a good idea of the costs, so that you’re not left with a vehicle that will exceed your budget," Mr Banks said.
