Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has given his first interview to a British media outlet in more than a decade, in an exclusive sit-down interview with GB News.

Mr Orbán spoke to Miriam Cates for a wide-ranging and timely discussion ahead of Hungary’s upcoming election.

The full interview, his first with a British television channel, will air at 9.30am on GB News on Wednesday, March 18, less than 30 days before Hungarians go to the polls.

In the interview, Mr Orbán discusses:

  • The impact of the growing global oil crisis
  • President Trump’s decision to go to war with Iran
  • Europe’s attitude towards strong leadership
  • How the migration crisis can be addressed
  • Hungary’s approach to solving the birth rate crisis
  • The future of Christian civilisation.

Reflecting on the interview, Britain’s Newsroom co-presenter Miriam said: “As the longest-serving leader in Europe, Mr Orbán brings a unique perspective on the political challenges facing our continent.

“He is one of Europe’s most debated and controversial figures, often portrayed in stark terms in the British media. But, as ever, the reality is more nuanced, and, whether you agree with him or not, his views deserve to be heard.

“He was among the first politicians to warn about the consequences of mass migration, falling birth rates and wider societal change, issues that are now firmly part of the political debate here in the UK.

“For me, the most striking part of the interview was his reflections on what it means to be a Christian civilisation at a time when church attendance is in historic decline. It is a conversation few British politicians would be willing to have, and it was a privilege to speak to him for GB News.”
