Watch the moment foreign policy analyst Nile Gardiner gave Sir Keir Starmer a chilling wake-up call after Iran fired ballistic missiles at the Chagos Islands.
Iran launched two ballistic missiles towards the Chagos Islands on Friday - just hours after Sir Keir Starmer gave the US permission to use the joint UK-US base to target a new set of Tehran's missile sites.
"I think that Keir Starmer has has a choice," Mr Gardiner told The Late Show Live host Ben Leo. "He can either be an appeaser, which is, I think, his instinct as a human rights lawyer.
"Or he can be - well, in this case, Keir Starmer needs to borrow a spine from somebody else because he doesn't have one - a Prime Minister who actually stands up for Britain on the world stage and orders a UK military response to Iranian aggression," he added.
"There will be many voices, of course, in Westminster who will urge the Prime Minister to do the right thing. So we'll have to see what happens."
