'It's about the students being valued and heard. It has nothing to do with what they're wearing,' Amy Anzel declared

A commentator has declared that school uniforms “create sameness” and are “restrictive” after GB News revealed one in eight English schools have ditched ties for tracksuits and hoodies.

Speaking to The People’s Channel, Amy Anzel rejected concerns that declining dress standards in the nation’s education system were a cause for concern.

“We want children to be educated and enjoy their education, wearing very comfortable clothing,” Ms Anzel said, adding that: “I think it's very restrictive to force them to wear uniforms.”

“In modern-day working, you don't wear a uniform necessarily, and if you do, it doesn't mean that you're proud of working there.

“Most offices these days, you wear casual clothing, and that’s business as usual. It has nothing to do with what you're wearing. Not everyone needs to wear a uniform,” the commentator insisted.

When pushed on school uniforms providing a sense of unity, Ms Anzel said: “I think that comes from the community, that comes from the administrators, the teachers.

“It's about the students being valued and heard. It has nothing to do with what they're wearing,” she declared.

The debate was sparked by a GB News report that found that one in eight English schools permit at least one item of sportswear as part of their standard daily uniform.

One school even permits all three items - a full tracksuit as a uniform.

Suella Braverman, Reform UK’s spokeswoman for Education, Skills and Equality, slammed the findings, exclaiming that schools are not “extensions of the living room”.
