Former Royal Correspondent Charles Rae has claimed Mohamed Al Fayed was "always a controversial character", as he reacted to allegations of rape and sexual assault against the former Harrods owner.
Speaking to GB News, Rae said: "He has always been a controversial character, from the cash for questions row way back in the 90s - and he was accused of sexual assault in about 2009, which was never proven.
"And now we've got these allegations, which are far, far more serious allegations than the previous ones."
