Military personnel have gathered in Hampshire to give a fond farewell to D-Day veteran Jim Justice, who sadly died on January 10 at the age of 99.

The rifleman stormed the Normandy beaches on June 6, 1944, marching on while he freed German-occupied towns and villages across Belgium and Holland.

Nick Alhambra, ambassador for the New Milton British Legion branch, told GB News: "Unfortunately, they're getting they're all starting to get to that age now where we're just going to be losing them all.

"We're not going to have any firsthand knowledge from those guys telling us what it was like.

"And kids of the day, they got to realise that these guys fought for their country.

"They fought for their freedom. And we don't need to be giving it away."
