The row comes after news that a second migrant has returned to the UK after being deported under the scheme

Michelle Dewberry was forced to step in during a fiery debate on GB News over Labour’s "one-in, one-out" returns scheme.

“Both of you, pack it in one at a time. Thank you,” she said, attempting to restore order as Labour MP Barry Gardiner and Reform UK's Zia Yusuf traded heated arguments over the effectiveness of the policy.

The row comes after news that a second migrant has returned to the UK after being deported under the scheme.

Speaking on GB News, Michelle asked Mr Gardiner: "What are you lot playing at with this one-in, one-out scheme?"

Mr Gardiner explained: "Let me tell you what we’re playing at. We’ve returned 42 people so far. You said at the beginning it wouldn’t be more than a couple, maybe even just one. But we’ve had 42 people returned."

Mr Yusuf fumed: "There’s over a million illegal migrants in this country."

Mr Gardiner furiously stated: "You always interrupt when you think I’m making a good point. I know you don’t like it, you certainly don’t."

Mr Yusuf joked: "I know you’re not about to make a good point, that’s for sure."

Interrupting them both, Michelle stepped in: "Both of you, pack it in one at a time. Thank you."

Mr Gardiner defended the scheme, saying: “We’ve returned 42 people so far,” insisting that the pilot program is already making a difference.

Mr Yusuf hit back, highlighting the wider issue, saying: “There’s over a million illegal migrants in this country, boasting about deporting 41 people is embarrassing.”

GB News revealed that another illegal migrant removed under the France returns deal crossed back into the UK yesterday.

He was among nearly 400 small boat migrants intercepted in the Channel by Border Force and brought to Dover Harbour.

The development represents another significant setback for the Government’s flagship one-in, one-out scheme with France.

A Home Office spokesman said: “Anyone looking to return to the UK after being removed under the UK-France agreement is wasting their time and money.

“This individual was detected by biometrics and detained immediately.

"His case will be expedited, and he will be returned to France as quickly as possible.

“The message is clear: if you try to return to the UK, you will be sent back. We will do whatever it takes to scale up removals of illegal migrants and secure our borders.”
