A DNA test revealed that Julia Wendell was not missing Madeleine McCann after weeks of upset and confusion

The woman who claimed to be Madeleine McCann has been slammed for the torment she has caused Kate and Gerry McCann.

21-year-old Julia Wendell from Poland claimed she was the missing Briton who disappeared in 2007 while on a family holiday in Portugal.

DNA results revealed earlier this week showed that she was not the missing girl.

Reacting to the revelation, investigative journalist Mark Williams-Thomas told GB News’ Dan Wootton: “Doctor Phil should not have had her on. This is a lady suffering from quite severe mental health issues. She shouldn't be put on there and given a profile.

“I mean, this is what she wanted, she wanted a platform in order in order to kind of gain some recognition.

“It was quite clear that it wasn't her, not only does it not look like her, but her parents came out very clearly and said, ‘we've given her all the documentation. She's got birth certificates. She's got photographs from birth. It clearly isn't her’.

“In fact for some weeks she was saying, ‘someone do a DNA test’.

“She could quite easily have gone to any of the companies that provide DNA tests and they would have shown she's Poland and Lithuania in origin and that her parents are who they say they are.”
