US President Joe Biden walked out of a recent Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House, as he was honouring a Vietnam War veteran.

Biden handed 81-year-old US Army Captain, Larry Taylor, the highest military decoration, before abruptly walking out of the East Room during the applause.

In a speech during the ceremony, the US President praised Larry Taylor, who was a US Army Pilot in the Vietnam War.

Biden said: “The Medal of Honor is our nation’s oldest and highest recognition of valour.

“Now when I called Larry to finally let him know he was receiving this recognition, his response was ‘I thought you had to do something to receive the medal of honour?’”

He continued: “Well Larry, you sure as hell did something man. If you ask anyone here, I’m pretty sure they’d say you did something extraordinary.”
