An Italian province has called for all dog owners to conduct and submit DNA tests for their pets, in a new crackdown to trace and fine owners leaving poo on the streets.
Out of 40,000 dogs that exist in the province, a quarter have already been registered. Once up and running, any abandoned dog mess will be collected, genetically tested ,and traced back to a dog, resulting in a fine for the owner.
