On Thursday evening Joe Biden and Donald Trump went head to head in the first presidential debate of 2024.
Biden's performance reignited concerns among Democrats about the president's fitness to run for office again.
Joe Biden is 81 years old, only three years older to Donald Trump, but last night the gap seemed much larger.
At times when Biden was speaking during the debate, his voice was hoarse and at times unintelligible. His words often ran together and he stumbled to cite statistics and legislation.
Biden also rarely raised his voice during the debate, missing opportunities to attack Trump and hammer his points.
Two campaign sources have said Biden has had a cold in recent days.
Despite Biden's difficulties, Trump did not attack Trump about his age apart from a quick snipe 20 minutes into the debate saying: "I really don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence. I don’t think he does either.”
