Alastair Stewart has delivered his analysis as to why he believes freedom of speech is such a fundamental principle in the modern age.

The legendary broadcaster admitted his passion for free speech is why he joined GB News when The People's Channel first launched in 2021.

“As human beings, we have to respect one another”, he said.

“Free speech is a licence in a sense. To offend people, but it’t not a licence to gratuitously offend people.

“If I say what I think and that is that Just Stop Oil are a painful irritant who disrupt ordinary people going about their ordinary lives, then of course, they have the right to make their point.

“But you have to choose whether your actions are doing more harm than good. I think that can also be true of speech.”
