The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) confirmed that "the product presents a serious chemical risk as the soldering on the metal chain contains an excess concentration of lead".
The pink bucket-style accessory, featuring a gold-coloured chain strap and manufactured in Bhutan, fails to comply with REACH Regulations 2008.

The OPSS has warned that "exposure to lead may cause a wide range of adverse effects, including damage to the kidneys, the circulatory system, and the developing brain". The agency emphasised that "the unborn child and young children are at greater risk of lead exposure".
This serious chemical hazard poses a particular risk to pregnant women and young children, whose developing systems are especially susceptible to lead's toxic effects.
