A nonconformity was discovered during routine product checks

Britons who have purchased the Wet n Wild Proline Felt Tip Eyeliner from Boots have been told to stop using it after the product failed to meet cosmetic regulations.

Markwins Beauty Brands INTL Ltd has initiated a voluntary recall following a regulatory check that revealed the eyeliner breaches applicable cosmetic product sale and distribution requirements.

The recall affects all batches of the felt tip eyeliner, which carries product reference E8752 and barcode 4049775587527.

The manufacturer discovered the nonconformity during routine product regulatory checks, though specific details about which regulations were violated have not been disclosed.

This marks the second cosmetic recall at Boots in recent weeks, raising concerns about product safety standards at the high street retailer.

Customers who have bought the affected eyeliner should not use the product. Instead, they must return it to the point of sale within six months, Boots told shoppers.

The company has provided contact details for concerned shoppers, stating: "Should you have any concerns and/or need more information, please do not hesitate to contact us. All communications should be addressed to the following contact address: regulatoryemea@markwins.com."

The recall encompasses every batch of the Wet n Wild Proline Felt Tip Eyeliner currently in circulation.

Just last month, Boots faced another product safety crisis when EU authorities detected dangerous levels of arsenic in certain shades of the Sosu Peach Dreams Eyeshadow Palette.

The contaminated palettes, bearing barcode 5391537262098, were sold across stores and online in the Republic of Ireland.

Boots acted swiftly to remove the eyeshadow palette from shelves and instructed customers to "immediately stop using the recalled product".

Shoppers were asked to return it to their nearest store for a full refund, with the retailer also establishing dedicated helplines for affected customers.

UK consumers were advised to call 0800 915 0004, while those in Ireland can reach customer care on 1800 719824.

Product recalls and withdrawals must always be taken seriously to ensure customer safety.

Earlier this month, shoppers were warned after liquid glass was discovered in a skin care product sold by QVC.

Britons were told to follow the typical recall process: stop using the product immediately and seek redress through their original point of purchase.

The contamination poses a direct threat to users' safety, with the potential for "minor cuts and injuries" when the serum is applied to skin.
