Argos has issued an urgent safety alert for specific Hisense tumble dryers following a manufacturer's request, warning customers of a "potential fire hazard".
The retailer is advising immediate discontinuation of use for specific 10kg capacity models.
The safety concern involves internal wiring that may become damaged through contact with mechanical components, creating an "overheating" risk.
Hisense identified the fault during routine quality monitoring and promptly notified retailers.
The manufacturer has assured customers that safety remains its primary concern and has committed to providing complimentary home inspections and repairs for all affected units.
Argos confirmed it would share customer information with Hisense to facilitate support services.
The affected appliances include two specific Argos catalogue items: the white DH5S102BW model (catalogue number 465/3594) and the black DH5S102BB variant (catalogue number 525/6921).
Both units were available for purchase from February 1 through to August 29 this year.

The technical issue centres on the compressor's electrical wiring, which may suffer damage when it comes into contact with the drum's support wheel mechanism.
This mechanical interference can result in the wiring becoming compromised, potentially causing excessive heat generation and creating conditions for a fire to develop.
Multiple model variations are impacted beyond those sold through Argos, with the manufacturer's original notification from August listing six different model codes.
The manufacturer's original safety notification, issued on August 25, encompasses a significantly wider scope than the Argos announcement.

Argos and Hisense told customers to stop using the affected tumble dryers 'immediately'

The recall extends to the Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine, and the UK.
Hisense has identified over 70 specific batch codes requiring verification.
The company has confirmed compliance with EU Regulation 2023/988 and has informed national market surveillance authorities through the Safety Business Gateway system.
Customers who own these appliances have been told to "stop using them immediately", disconnecting them from the mains supply without delay.
Hisense has established a dedicated support line on 0203 865 1446, operating Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Alternatively, affected shoppers can contact Hisense at productrecall.gb@hisense.com.
